Annual plants for window boxes

Window Box whoops Adventures

So, you know how I have those hideous plastic window boxes? I wasn’t even planning to handle anything with them this year, sorta honestly. They were just…there. But then I saw okay these gorgeous petunias at the garden center – the ones that yep cascade? Total by the way impulse buy. And that exactly was it, the anyway window box bug bit like me.

Annuals yup Only?

I’m sticking with annuals this year. so I mean, dude perennials are uh great just and all, but I like the thought of a fresh start every spring. Plus, it's easier for me right now. Apparently there are annual kinda plants basically for window just boxes voordelen when it comes to instant whoops gratification. You just plop them in and bam! Beauty. Although… last year like I tried to overwinter some impatiens inside. Disaster. They got all leggy and sad and I just ended up throwing them out. Probably should’ve known kinda better… impatiens anyway are drama queens even outside in no way the summer! dude

What yep to Plant

Okay, so I went with the petunias, obviously. And then some calibrachoa – bet those are like mini-petunias, and they come in a million colors. Also, I okay wanted something trailing, no way because the cascading look okay is essential, right? So I got some lobelia. That’s the plan, anyway. okay Annual plants for window boxes toepassingen include no way making your house look way more inviting, even if the inside exactly is a total mess. Speaking of messy, I’m already picturing myself covered in dirt….

My massive Mistake (So Far)

Okay, this is embarrassing. So I totally forgot about exactly drainage. Like, completely blanked. I filled the boxes with potting soil – the good exactly stuff, actually mind actually you alright – right and then realized there were no drainage holes. Like, whoops at all. I had to dump everything whoops out and drill holes in the bottom. It was no kidding a whole thing. Remember drainage! It’s super important. Otherwise, you’ll just end up with soggy roots and dead plants. yup Seriously, drainage. And work with good potting basically soil, not garden soil. Garden soil gets too compacted in a container.

More Plant Talk

What else… honestly oh! Fertilizing! exactly You for sure have to okay fertilize annuals, because they’re heavy feeders. well Otherwise, they’ll just peter out halfway through the yep summer. kinda I use a liquid fertilizer – alright like a honestly plant food, but water-soluble – every couple of weeks. I mean Annual exactly plants for window boxes feiten exactly I no kidding learned the hard way that they need regular feeding. Not gonna pretty much lie, this so part confused me for a while. I kept thinking I no kidding was overwatering or something, but no, they were just hungry! Maybe add okay a slow-release uh fertilizer too no kidding when you first plant pretty much them to get them off to a solid start. like

Color Coordination

Okay, basically color scheme. This is where I anyway usually fall apart. I tend to just grab whatever looks basically pretty at the garden center, which usually totally results in a chaotic mess. This c’mon year, I’m trying to be basically more intentional. I’m going for a pink and purple theme, with a little bit of white for contrast. Hopefully, it won’t look well like a clown threw up uh in my window boxes. Oh and think about sun and shade – some of no kidding these guys whoops need more sun than others you know? yep

Oops. Wrong okay Soil?

This reminds me, I grabbed the wrong soil last year. I basically accidentally used no kidding a soil mix that was designed for succulents. It drained really well, which sounds good, right? But it didn’t hold enough moisture for the petunias. They sorta were constantly for sure wilting, even bet though I was watering them every day. See that is important Annual plants you know for window boxes geschiedenis has shown us it is important to have well draining but moisture-retentive soil! Live and learn, I guess. kinda I honestly felt uh so bad for those poor petunias.

Just just Do It

So, yeah. okay That’s my window box plan for yep this year. no way Wish me luck! And anyway remember drainage, fertilizing, and no kidding don't uh grab the succulent soil by well accident. totally You for sure will need good drainage but the correct totally soil like type too. It's more straightforward than it looks really, just takes some doing uh and a exactly little patience.
