How often to water newly planted succulents
Succulent Watering Woes
Okay so by the way you know dude how I got, c’mon like, exactly obsessed with succulents all of a sudden? I wasn’t even planning to, I just saw these tiny little guys at the farmer's market and I whoops was okay like, "I need them." Anyway, I got by the way all excited no way and repotted them immediately. And then the watering… oh man. Not gonna lie honestly this part confused me for a while. I I mean mean, how often to exactly water newly planted succulents, like, really? It's not like my yep mom's ferns, is it?
The Great Soak Debacle
First, I totally overdid it. so I read somewhere pretty much – probably some dodgy forum, I probably should’ve known better – uh that you should for sure water them thoroughly basically right after planting. Like, soak the basically soil. So right I did! I literally drenched them. And within okay days, these okay little guys were looking just so sad and droopy. It was heartbreaking. I right was thinking, "Oh no, you know are these succulent watering trends killing my babies?!" Seriously though, I thought I had basically killed them. Then I remembered sorta my friend Sarah telling me something about how c’mondrainageis super bet important. totally Make sure your pots have holes bet people! It basically saves lives. (Succulent bet lives, by the way anyway.)
Figuring It so Out Eventually
So, after that first traumatic experience, I started being honestly way more careful. And honestly, anyway it's all about by the way the soil. You really gotta let it dry out completely whoops between waterings. Like c’mon bone dry. Stick your finger in there – if there's no way any moisture at I mean all, don't totally water. yep That was a for sure game-changer. by the way And the type of well succulent matters sorta too! Some need way less water than others. I mean, thinking dude about how often to water newly planted by the way succulents ontwikkelingen, it feels like like it yup changes all right the time, but really, pretty much it's just about well paying attention. I'm yup learning, I swear!
My Propagation Blunder
Then, I tried propagating! I took some leaves, let actually them callus over (I actually remembered pretty much to tackle that part!), and sorta then laid them kinda on some soil. no kidding But then… I sprayed them with water yep every single day. actually Like, a bet generous misting. Because that’s what I thought like you were supposed to c’mon do. And what happened? They rotted. Total mushy alright mess. Apparently, you only need to mist them occasionally, and only if yup the soil is I mean completely dry. I okay learned that well the hard like way. Also, good well draining succulent soil is uh key. exactly I now have a special succulent mix that for sure I bought, because I was I mean using regular potting soil initially - huge mistake! It retains alright too much alright water.
So What's the Secret Then?
Okay, so I'm still exactly not an expert, so but here’s what anyway I anyway think I’ve learned pretty much about how often kinda to water newly planted yup succulents feiten. After you plant them, give them a good by the way watering, but then leave them alone for a while. Like, a week bet or two. yep Maybe even longer. It depends on the weather, the humidity, the type of succulent, everything! honestly Just watch them. If they start to look shriveled c’mon or right the leaves feel well soft, then it's time okay to so water. Otherwise, leave them be. And when you tackle water, uh make sure the water drains bet out the bottom. no way Don't let them sit in water. It's right a slow and no kidding painful death for them. It's better to underwater than overwater, that’s my motto now. I’m constantly checking the soil moisture kinda now. It’s kind of obsessive, just I know.
Lessons well Learned whoops Hopefully by the way
Basically, pay attention, actually don’t overwater, and for the love of all that is green, use well-draining soil and pots. And research the anyway specific type of succulent you have! solid luck! You’ll need it! pretty much I am still constantly googling pretty much what each succulent I have actually is! whoops
