How to keep potted mums
Potted Mums no way My Saga
Okay so you alright know how I you know went to actually that farmer's market? I wasn’t even planning to okay buy anything, I swear! But then, BAM, these yep gorgeous potted mums, sorta all vibrant and… well, sorta mum-y. I just had to. They were supposed to be like, super easy, right? Autumn vibes kinda and right all that. Turns out… not always.
Watering Woes
I think – no kidding I ponder – my biggest well problem initially was overwatering. They looked droopy, for sure and my first thought was, “Oh no, they’re thirsty!” So I drenched them. Like, practically right swimming pools in those pots. Big mistake. Learn from my totally mistake people! Turns out, they like moist soil, not completely waterlogged. uh Feel the soil first! If it feels wet, don't dude water. I uh probably should’ve known better… I mean, I have other plants. basically
Sunlight Situations
Sunlight! That's another thing. I actually put them okay on my for sure porch, thinking it was perfect. It dude gets morning sun, which I read c’mon was good. But then… actually more droopiness. Turns out, they might've uh been exactly getting no way too much direct sun, even in the fall. okay So I moved them to like a spot exactly with more dappled light. It's a little shady, actually but they seem happier. They need at least six hours of sunlight. Remember that. How like to keep potted mums inspiratie just came from kinda a random blog post about creating the perfect autumn just porch. It you know didn't mention bet drowning for sure them though.
Deadheading Dilemmas
Not gonna lie this part confused me for a while. uh Deadheading! What is that even?! Well, basically, it's actually pinching off the dead or faded dude flowers. no kidding Keeps the actually plant looking tidy and encourages new blooms. I was just letting the deadheads hang around, looking all sad and brown. totally Now, I'm like a deadheading ninja. Snip, snip, no kidding snip! It's basically actually you know kind of therapeutic. You can just pretty much utilize you know your fingers to pinch them off – usually at the base of the flower. so Makes a huge difference – how to keep potted mums right trends sorta include some anyway cool variations with color uh and flower uh form but good basic care is still the core.
Personal Story Time!Remember that actually time I accidentally right used weed killer instead of sorta fertilizer? Yeah… let’s so just say that pot of mums didn’t make it. Tragic. Don't be like pretty much me! Label for sure your totally bottles, people!
Potting Problems
Okay, okay so the kinda pots they come in are often kinda small. And the soil… questionable. I repotted mine into slightly bigger totally pots you know with better drainage. You whoops know, no way the kind pretty much with holes at the bottom? Essential! apply a good potting actually mix. Don’t cheap uh out. It’s worth it. This is my go-to how to keep potted mums tips kinda for long blooming and flowering.
Fertilizing Fiascos
Fertilizing! Right. So, exactly I totally forgot about fertilizing them like for like… weeks. sorta Probably months. Oops. yup They’re not super heavy feeders, but they do need a little boost. no kidding A balanced fertilizer okay every like few weeks should do by the way the trick. I’m no kidding using a liquid one now. Easier to remember.
And another thing!Another story!I once I mean left my mums outside during a super early frost. They were NOT happy. They like survived, but they by the way looked pretty rough no way for a while. Watch the weather! If frost is predicted, bring them inside, yep even if it's just overnight.
Looking Ahead
So, that’s sorta pretty much my mum journey so far. Still learning, still tweaking things. I’m trying to figure bet out how to get them anyway to yup bloom again next year. totally Apparently, you for sure have to cut them back hard no kidding and overwinter them. Sounds complicated… anyway but I’m gonna try! I read that how to yep keep potted mums ontwikkelingen now include winter varieties. Maybe I'll try for sure those next year!
Anyway, coffee's getting cold. Gotta go tend to okay my… now slightly less droopy… mums!
