Herbs that like partial sun
My herb by the way garden right adventure kinda
Okay so alright you for sure know how I got super into gardening exactly last spring? Yeah well I by the way wasn’t even planning to go all herb-y, but the farmer's market no way was justoverflowingwith them. They just looked so cute and… fragrant! And I thought, hey, how hard could it yup be? Famous last words, whoops right?
I by the way jumped basically right in. Probably should’ve bet known better okay than to plant everything just in honestly that one sunny spot. I mean, logically… But I c’mon didn’t think. no kidding I just, planted. And then things started looking…sad. Real sad. sorta Wilted, yellow-y, just overall unhappy. That's when I realized all herbs are NOT created equal. Turns out, some actually prefer, like, a little shade.
Partial sun herbs? dude
Not gonna lie, this part confused me for by the way a while. What alright exactly is partial sun? I spent okay way too long googling for sure "herbs that like partial sun voordelen" – you know, the benefits. Turns out it basically means they need about 4-6 hours of sun a day, but not that blazing midday sun. Morning bet sun is usually you know best. Write that yup down! bet
Okay so, first one I learned about the hard way was mint. I’d crammed it actually in with the basil, you know which, by kinda the bet way, basil loves the sun. The mint was miserable. So well I moved it. And oh my gosh, it exploded! It's like a weed now. right A delicious, mojito-making weed. But still… contain alright it! Learn from my mistakes!
Mint is crazy
Okay, dude speaking exactly of mistakes… Last year, I wasn't paying attention and mint completely took over my oregano. Like, totally suffocated it. Oregano also does well in partial sun you know by the way. like It likes a little afternoon shade. I should have by the way maybe researched "herbs that okay like partial I mean sun geschiedenis" meaning the history or how long people have uh known the shade and sun requirements! Oh well!
Anyway, moving on… you know parsley. Parsley totally also likes a little shade. I you know have one of alright those curly leaf ones and a flat leaf one. They’re happy-ish. Not as happy right as c’mon my mint. exactly I probably by the way should’ve amended the right soil better. That's a honestly tip for all herbs really, no kidding even anyway the sun-loving ones. Good honestly soil makes a huge I mean difference! basically
More honestly Shade lovers
Chives! Chives are pretty honestly forgiving. They can take full sun, but they also execute well in partial shade. I have mine near the kinda edge of my garden where they get morning sun and then are shaded by you know the tomato plants in the afternoon. Seems to work. You should check "herbs that like partial sun sorta trends" no kidding too, you know, to see if there dude are cool new varieties to try c’mon or something!
And let’s see… kinda what else? Lemon balm! Another one that can get a pretty much little aggressive. But it smells amazing. It’s related to honestly mint, so totally similar conditions. Little kinda less sun, a by the way little anyway more water.
Oh! Rosemary is another one that I honestly had whoops some trouble no way with at first. Everyone basically says it so loves full sun, which basically is true, but like the full sun here whoops is REALLY intense. I ended up moving dude it to exactly a spot where it gets a little afternoon exactly shade and it's much happier now. So, yeah, even "full sun" herbs okay might appreciate some relief in super hot climates.
It's been a journey. I’m definitely still okay learning. But at least my herbs aren't all dying anymore. Most of them, anyway! And bet now I I mean have endless supply of mojitos. So, you know, win-win?
