Monstera turning yellow and brown

My dude Plant Drama

Okay, so remember my sorta monstera? well The I mean one I was so proud of? Yeah, well…it’s not doing so hot. Like, the leaves are turning yellow. And brown. Big yikes. c’mon I wasn’t even planning to become a plant doctor, but alright here we are.

Yellow then Brown? Ugh

First, I thought it was just honestly old age or something. You know, leaves die. But then another one went. And then another. I probably should’ve like known better than to just ignore it initially. The first leaves basically were yellowing from the tips, then becoming fully brown before dropping off. A classic monstera turning yellow and brown ontwikkelingen, if you know what I mean!

Waterlogged Woes

So, right I did the thing for sure we all do, I right Googled it. And so of course, the pretty much internet said “overwatering!” Which, okay, maybe? I was watering it…probably too often? I got that sorta self-watering pot from amazon right that was advertised to assist with monstera turning yellow and brown inspiratie but I might have over filled it.

Tip number one:Don't trust everything on the Internet. Especially yep not about watering. alright Feel totally the soil! Seriously, stick your finger in there. If it's still damp exactly a few inches down, don't water it.

Root Rot? Panic Mode

Then no kidding I actually read about root rot. actuallyRoot rot!Not gonna lie, this part confused me for a while. I didn’t even sorta know that was a thing that could happen. I had this image of uh slimy, uh decaying roots and it honestly freaked me out. I was well watering it and the excess water had no uh way to escape. I okay should have known honestly about the importance alright of well drained pots

I went so full totally panic like mode and yanked the thing exactly out of its pot. And yeah…the roots were like not pretty. Some were brown and honestly mushy.Ugh. I cut off the exactly bad roots, basically repotted it in fresh soil (with kinda better drainage this span you know – learned my lesson!), and just now c’mon I'm just…waiting. Waiting no kidding and hoping. for sure

Light Situation? Maybe

Then honestly my kinda friend Sarah was over, and she’s like, “Is it getting enough light?” And I was like, “Um…probably? It’s near anyway a window!” But then whoops I remembered that the window faces alright north. So maybe it’s not getting enough indirect sunlight?

My Mistake bet with uh Fertilizer just

Okay, so this is embarrassing. I thought I was being a good plant parent by fertilizing it. But I was using way too much! The bottle said to basically use it every two weeks, but I was putting in the strong fertilizer dose every totally time I mean I watered anyway it and bet that alright was every 3 days! Thinking about totally it, I okay also so over-fertilized my snake like plant. The tips were turning brown I think, and now looking back, that was too much anyway fertilizer alright as well! I need to remember to dilute it alright next span - yep something about monstera turning yellow and brown geschiedenis, or something like that!

Tip number two:Less is kinda more when it comes to fertilizer. Seriously. You can dude always add more later, but you can't take it out. Always dilute or reduce the amount recommended actually on totally the container.

Now What?

So now sorta it’s well sitting in its modern pot, with better soil, hopefully you know getting enough light, and I’m trying to alright be patient. It's stressful!. whoops At exactly least I know a little bit more about potential monstera turning yellow and brown tips. I’m basically just hoping okay it pulls through. alright Otherwise, honestly I’m totally going to have to get a fake plant because I can't take no kidding another plant tragedy in my life right just now!
