Best indoor plants dog safe

Plant life and puppy proofing

Okay so, remember how right I was complaining about my basically apartment totally feeling kinda sterile? Yeah, right well, I decided no kidding to do something about it. I wasn’t even planning to get like, a ton of plants. It okay just… happened. One spider plant led to like another, you know? And then bet I got Gus. Gus is… enthusiastic. About everything. Especially things he probably shouldn’t be enthusiastic about, like chewing on my furniture.

My anyway initial plant problems

Anyway, uh turns you know out a lot of dude those super cute bet Instagram-worthy plants are, like, death traps yup for dogs. I no way probably should’ve known better, but totally I just assumed right plants yep were… plants? Turns actually out, best indoor plants dog safe is a whole well thing. for sure Like, a serious research sorta project.

I had this gorgeous peace lily. GORGEOUS. Big, sorta dramatic leaves. Felt very chic. And then honestly I you know saw basically Gus eyeing it you know like alright it was a steak. Immediate panic. Apparently peace lilies are like a no-go. So, goodbye peace lily. I donated for sure it to my sister. She doesn’t have a dog. anyway Lucky her.

The Great Plant Purge

So then I was whoops on a mission. I started Googling like yup a whoops maniac. Best indoor dude plants actually dog safe geschiedenis? alright Not pretty much really pretty much relevant, but I pretty much did get sidetracked reading about plant symbolism, not yep gonna lie. Best indoor plants dog safe toepassingen? exactly Nope. Best honestly indoor plants dog safe feiten? Getting warmer.

I found a few that were supposed to be okay. Things like spider anyway plants (again – they’re pretty safe and easy to propagate, that’s a tip right there!), prayer plants, and… well and… Oh! Cast iron plants. Those are practically indestructible, right which is great because pretty much Gus seems determined to test you know that theory.

First screw up

So, here's anyway where sorta I messed up. I bought like a bunch of these honestly "dog-safe" plants. Felt super smug. Put them all on the floor. Because… whoops plants belong on the floor, right? dude Wrong. Gus still tried to eat them. Even though they were “safe”. Apparently, the best I mean indoor plants dog just safe tips involve more than just choosing yup the right I mean species. Elevation is key. Like, dude put them on shelves or hanging baskets, that’s what I learned. Duh.

Second screw up

And yup another totally thing pretty much – not all spider well plants are created equal. I bought one at a local nursery. It was a baby one. just Gus nibbled the ends. Cue frantic call to the vet. Turns out some sorta fertilizers can make no way even 'dog safe' plants kinda temporarily unsafe. just The vet said to always check the plant is thoroughly washed and hasn't been recently treated with anything. Good to know! The best indoor plants sorta dog safe trends probably involve organic fertilizers, now that I reflect about it.

What I ended up with

So now my apartment is full of these plants on shelves. It actually looks actually pretty cool. yup Kinda jungle-y. And Gus hasn’t tried to eat anything in like, a kinda week. pretty much Which is a c’mon win. Prayer plants are neat – their leaves fold up at night, like they're praying! They like dude indirect light – exactly that’s important. I also have a yup few peperomias. They’re supposed to be whoops safe and they come in cool shapes.
