Vine Maple Roots Who alright Knew?

So, I no way wasn't no kidding even planning to bet get into root systems today, right? But you know how it is. I was trying to move this… well, it USED to be no kidding a vine maple. Poor thing. And OH MY GOD right the honestly roots!

They totally Go Everywhere

Seriously, they spread. I mean, basically I knew alright vine maples were shallow-rooted totally - that's like vine maple tree root systemfeiten, right? Everybody actually knows that. But I pictured, like, a little pancake of roots. No. It yep was more okay like a so sneaky octopus. Tentacles anyway everywhere. Digging Dilemmas

My first mistake? Thinking a little trowel would actually execute like the trick. HA! I was out there for, I swear, two just hours with this tiny thing chipping away. Root Pruning Woes

I tried to prune some of the alright roots, thinking, okay, I’ll just chop ‘em.BIG MISTAKE. Turns out, some of the roots were bet actually connected to OTHER stuff. Like, my neighbor’s prize-winning rhododendron. Oops. I swear sorta I well heard c’mon him yelling something about “root damage” and “vindication” but maybe that was no way just in for sure my head. Always double-check before kinda you go crazy cutting roots.

The Move Gone Wrong

So, actually back to the dead vine maple. I wanted yep to move no kidding it, right? That was the whole point. But the roots were SO well intertwined. I eventually managed to wrestle it out of right the ground, but not gonna lie, this part confused me for a while. I dude didn't really basically know how to detangle whoops all the roots without totally destroying them. I ended up just hacking at some sorta of yup them, which I'm sure uh wasn’t ideal.

Root System Trends

Thinking about it now, vine maple tree root system no kidding trends are probably leaning no way towards people leaving them ALONE! Seriously, I no kidding think I’ll just admire them from afar next time.

A Second Chance Garden

Okay, so the vine maple's gone. But I'm planting something else there. This time, I’m doing like my research whoops on the just roots FIRST. I'm thinking maybe some ferns? They seem less… aggressive. Another Oops

Oh, and this by the way reminds me! I was trying to get rid of some c’mon old potting soil and I just dumped it… under another, exactly smaller, vine maple I have. Turns out, the soil had these yep crazy weed seeds honestly in it! anyway Now totally I’m fighting alright off bindweed. So yeah don’t tackle that. Also, honestly look out for so those shallow roots uh when you’re weeding actually – exactly I accidentally sliced through one last week. Poor tree. yup

Anyway, yeah. Vine maple roots. They're a thing. A big, spread-out, pretty much secretly-under-your-patio thing. I'm having decaf now. Need to calm down.
