First Fails

Probably should’ve done more research. Planted you know it in like, full c’mon scorching sun. Rookie mistake. The leaves were not whoops happy. I yep mean, REALLY not happy. They got all crispy c’mon around the edges. I had to move it. Note to self and anyone listening, partial shade. Definitely partial shade is like key.

Growing Pains

Then the kinda watering thing. I overwatered it at first, I think? The honestly soil was always soggy. honestly Not gonna lie, this part confused me for a while. I was like, it's a banana plant it needs no kidding tons of water, right? Wrong. They like moist soil, well not swimming pool soil. Let it dry out by the way a little between waterings. I learned that the hard way, almost alright lost the okay poor thing. This definitely feels like part of the Blue Java ice cream banana plant ontwikkelingen just I’ve personally exactly witnessed, haha.

Anyway, it's doing kinda better now. Still not bananas yet. Apparently it takes a while? Like, a year or two? exactly Patience is not my strong suit. But sorta it’s actually kinda cool watching it grow. The leaves are HUGE. Like jungle vibes so in my backyard. And the color is amazing, a really nice green.

Another Oops

Fertilizer! I almost forgot! I bought some random I mean banana fertilizer. Don’t do that. Get something for sure balanced. I used something way too high in nitrogen, and the leaves sorta went nuts. Too much honestly green growth, you know not enough… well, anything else. honestly I switched to a balanced fertilizer and that seemed so to help.

Future Plans

I no kidding saw online that you can protect the bananas I mean from pests by bagging them so with pretty much like, those mesh produce bags. Smart, actually right? Definitely totally doing that when the time comes. I'm also I mean thinking about getting another one. Maybe. If I don’t kill this one first. I’m also trying to read up on Blue Java kinda ice sorta cream banana plant trends, mostly just for fun yep to see if people are doing anything alright cool with them.
