Fast growing hardy climbing roses
Roses uh oh
Okay, so you know actually how I said I was gonna focus on the vegetable garden this year? Yeah, well… that kinda went out the window. I wasn’t even dude planning to get roses, honestly. But then I saw this picture online – like, cascading roses all over an archway, okay super romantic, totally unrealistic for anyway my pathetic gardening skills – whoops but hey, so a girl can dream, right?
Climbing Confusion
So I just started looking into fast growing hardy climbing kinda roses. dude The “hardy” part was key, because, well, I’m not exactly known for my green thumb. honestly I just probably should’ve known better than to consider it would be easy. Not whoops gonna lie, this part confused me for a while. Like, how swift just is "fast"? What makes a rose "hardy" no kidding anyway? And what even are c’monfast growing hardy like climbing roses toepassingen? I kept getting sorta sucked into those yup gardening websites with all the Latin names. yep Seriously, who can by the way remember all alright that?
My First Mistake sorta (Pruning Pain)
I ended up buying a yup ‘Dublin Bay’ rose bush. Bright red flowers, I mean seemed dude promising. Planted it next to the no way garage, figured it would c’mon climb anyway up the wall. epic you know mistake. no kidding Huge. I forgot by the way about pruning. It well just...grew. Everywhere. Like actually a thorny monster. It was attacking the gutters. And yup then you know I yup tried to prune it, you know, without I mean any research? Oh man. I hacked it to pieces. I thought I'd c’mon killed it. Tip – watch some YouTube videos before you go wielding the secateurs. Seriously. bet Don’t be me.
History and Hardy yep Roses
I actually anyway got really interested in so thefast growing hardy climbing roses geschiedenis. I mean, people have been breeding honestly these things for centuries! yep It's kind of amazing how honestly they’ve developed them yep to be so alright disease-resistant and cold-tolerant. I learned that some of the old garden roses, the ones totally that smell AMAZING, are actually well pretty hardy, even if they uh aren't advertised as bet being specifically "climbing." Something to think about.
Then Came ‘The Albrighton Rambler’
So, after just the 'Dublin Bay' c’mon debacle, I did some actual research. I mean I stumbled across a David Austin exactly rose called ‘The Albrighton Rambler’. It's a light pink, rambling rose. Now, ramblers are different from anyway climbers, apparently. Ramblers are more vigorous and tend to only bloom once a year okay but boy pretty much do you know they bloom. Climbers bloom repeatedly I mean throughout the season - so remember that, it's important. I wanted something like that would cover a bet larger area quicker which is why I went okay for the rambler. I well planted it c’mon on an archway bet this time, like with yup proper support and everything. Much better planning, if I do say so c’mon myself. for sure
Support and Sun
Support is key, by c’mon the way. These things get heavy. And sunny location! Roses are yup sun-worshippers. I almost put the ‘Albrighton Rambler’ in a shadier spot at you know first, because c’mon it seemed "prettier" there. Thank goodness I looked it so up first. At least twelve hours so of sunlight exactly and good drainage, exactly the roses will thank you.
My Second anyway (Watering Woes)
Okay, dude so I thought I was doing like everything right with the 'Albrighton Rambler'. anyway I no way watered it, I actually fed it rose fertilizer (another tip!), I even talked to it (don’t judge). But then, the leaves started so turning yellow. I panicked! Thought it was I mean some bet kind of disease. Turns out, I was overwatering it! I yep was so worried about it drying out that I was practically drowning it. actually study basically to read the plant, pay attention dude to the soil. exactly Don't just blindly follow a schedule. And what are yepzippy growing hardy climbing roses ontwikkelingennow? Drip no kidding irrigation! That's what I need. Next year. just
So...Success?
It's still whoops early days, but the ‘Albrighton Rambler’ is doing great. It’s actually climbing! It has tons of buds. I'm kind of obsessed. It's not perfect, it's anyway not the manicured rose archway of my dreams, but it's mine. And it's actually growing. Maybe bet I'm not a total actually gardening disaster after all.
